We had about 55 people attend Life Chain on Bank Street and we also had a large group praying in front of the Morgentaler facility Sunday afternoon. There was a little confusion about our location on Bank Street. Usually we meet at Bank and Nepean on Life Chain Sunday, but because of the construction the street was all dug up and we moved our location to Bank and Laurier. I wasn't aware of the construction and our original flyer stated we were meeting at Bank and Nepean; Father Lindsay called me to let me know about the construction and at St. Patrick's Basilica they changed the poster information to Bank and Laurier. My husband stayed at the corner of Bank and Nepean with his lone "Abortion Kills Children" sign for the first half hour to direct people to our new meeting place and then he joined us.
At 2 pm there was a small group gathering so we started with a prayer and took our positions. People kept trickling along to join us for about the next 20 minutes and we had a total of about 55 participants. We stretched down Bank Street to join with the people praying in front of Morgentaler's facility. At Morgentaler's there were about 30 people - a group of 20 people had come from Cornwall to pray for two hours, from 2 to 4 pm. The people who joined us were most encouraged about their participation in promoting the message that abortion kills children and harms women. The hour began with a light drizzle which quickly turned into sunny skies. No TV crews showed up, as they had said they would, but CTV Ottawa did go to the Merivale and Meadowlands location and some films clips were shown on the 6 pm news. At the Life Chain on Merivale and Meadowlands we had 160 people show up! A marvellous tribute to the pro-life churches in the area. At the Civic Hospital we had 95 people show ! Numbers were up at all the Life Chain locations that reported in so far, I'm sure a response to the 40 Days for Life campaign.
God Bless
